We have a tendency to hold our breathe when we are stressed out. The problem is, this doesn't provide any oxygen to our brain and we become stuck, unable to move through the issue at hand. Just like learning to breathe through the intensity of the poses in yoga asana, you can apply these breathing techniques to situations in your own life.
Sama Vritti, or same breath, is the practice of matching the length and quality of your inhales and exhales. This calms our parasympathetic nervous system and can help you move through the daily sticky stuff.
Red wine at night, green smoothies for breakfast. Dance all night, do yoga in the morning. Eat your greens, but never forget about nachos. Life is all about balance (in all things).
