How to maintain your summer attitude in the winter months

I notice that as soon as people begin thinking about summer, their mood lightens, and they begin to think about the warm weather and fun that they are going to have. Summer is highly associated with joy. Why can't we keep this enthusiasm during the cooler months?
Okay, I understand that when there are days where it literally hurts your face to step outside, you want to curl up in a ball and not do anything. Instead of looking at the harsh weather as a negative, why not embrace the fuzzy socks and big blankets. This is a different time of year, but that doesn't mean we can't approach it with similar feelings as we do in summer.
It's cold, get over it, and embrace it
Winter is cold- we get it. But with winter comes a variety of outdoor activities. Mountain tops become covered with snow and skating rinks begin to appear- this is something to be excited about. If you don't ski, snowboard or skate, maybe now is the time to start. By having an activity that you love to do in the snow, it makes the approach of winter an exciting time- maybe even more exciting than summer. (Okay, maybe I am getting ahead of myself) Basically, buy a snow suit, and get out there- end of story.
Pick up a good book
Winter is a time of the year when I get most of my reading done. Sure, this is highly due to the fact that I am a communications major who's homework typically involves copious amounts of reading and writing. Even when I can get away from homework, I always have a good book that I can turn to when I don't want to go outside. In my opinion, one of the worst things you can do, is come home on those cold days, and sit in front of Netflix to bing-watch your favourite show. Don't get me wrong, I love days like this. But making a habit of it can, in my experience, get quite depressing. Switch it up this winter and alternate between a good book and a funny show.

Let's embrace the end of summer, and look forward to winter.
